    Are you familiar with market segmentation? How about the concept of a 'long tail' in business?  In market segment- ation, products and services are created to meet the wants and needs of relatively-speaking broad categories of people. Women aged 29-50. Basketball players. People who live in warm weather climates. While this tool does help target products, services, and marketing, it doesn't go far enough.
   
The long tail, however, goes to the other spectrum by saying that if you offer a huge variety of products, where most only appeal to a tiny group, you can still be successful when you add all those buyers up. This works mostly

in the digital world, such as buying songs online, where
the cost to the seller is negligible, so if only five people download a song, for instance, they still make money.
   
Unique Accumulation is a hybrid of those two concepts. It follows the thought that there is profit to be found in tiny groups, or as we call them communities. The key is that each community must be recognized for its uniqueness from every other community. Creating viable markets of communities requires tailoring communications, design, even the products and services themselves. While this requires great effort, it can offer even greater reward.
